Footballscoop.com first reported the hiring.
McCaslin spent 14 seasons at Nebraska-Omaha, holding various titles, including defensive coordinator and assistant head coach.
Nebraska-Omaha dropped football last year as it moves from Division II to Division I.
McCaslin was a wide receiver for Hastings College from 1990-94.
Under head coach Chris Creighton, Drake finished 9-2 and shared the Pioneer Football League title with San Diego last year.
